Dear Colleagues:

With the semester winding down, we co-directors want to wish you a happy holiday season and thank you for your participation in ACERT’s events. We had a busy and dynamic semester, offering ten Lunchtime Seminars, five Assessment Breakfasts, two Teaching-Scholarship Circles, several webinars, a tour of the Belfer Center + Happy Hour, and much more. We bookended this term’s series with sessions devoted to the tricky pedagogical issues of running the first and the last sessions of one’s course. Building on an idea shared in the “last day of class” session, we would like to invite you to share your thoughts about the semester’s programming on a Padlet site started during the Lunchtime Seminar: as you’ll see, there’s a dynamic discussion already underway that’s waiting for your input.

We also had a lot of activity on our blog--fifteen posts since the end of the Spring term-- on topics ranging from Danish educational humor (a three-part series) to the “embedded librarian” concept to using online conferencing tools in class. Last but not least, our work-study student, John Wagner, produced five outstanding brief videos summing up ACERT events and activities.

We would like to give a special thanks to the presenters for all of these events: Hunter is intellectually richer for your contributions, and we are continually amazed by the talent and imagination of our faculty and staff. We hope that you will continue attending events, making presentations, giving us feedback, and (especially) bringing in newbies in the New Year.

In the meantime, a happy and healthy end of 2015 to you and your friends and families.

Warm regards,
Jeff Allred
