I agree with Bob. One of the things that has weakened the credibility of this organization in many circles has been its intermingling of polemic with the rigor of explanation. I just completed a course well received by students titled Logic with a broad view. That meant starting with standard formal and informal logic then mathematical game theory and decision theory and finishing with a brief introduction to Bayesianism and algorithms derived from computer programming efforts. Critical theory, persuasion, polemics socio-linguistics strategies for gotcha questions and so on were sometimes on students minds and yet more often than not they saw that whatever the merit of those kinds of things they got in the way of trying to figure out the most plausible solutions to any problem at hand at the time. The ancient Greeks were right to distinguish between the sophists and the truth seekers.

I suggest we limit it to Informal Logic and Critical Thinking. Argumentation as it is commonly interpreted includes persuasion.

Do you think it would be a good idea to have our website translated into other languages, like Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, etc.? In case you do, how do you think we should do it? Do you have other ideas to achieve this goal?
