The Daily News gave each candidate a grade. Baraka got a B, Clinton a
B+, and the only A went to Edwards. Then the text said Baraka pipped
Clinton at the post, and Edwards was not covered in text at all.
That seems to be the challenge for the Edwards campaign. Generate
some human interest angle, cancer etc etc. Give them something to
write about, and I don't mean ideas.

Quiz: who is doing this "close watching"?

Does the phrase describe your focus on the debate?

Here's an interesting sidelight: A poll conducted by the University of
Iowa earlier this month carried the following headline:

"Poll: Iowa Dems Favor Clinton, Edwards....

In Iowa, apparently, a different pair of candidates is "most closely
watched."

So, again, who are The Times' "close watchers"?
