The Fund for Public Health in New York, Inc. (FPHNY) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNY implements programs to address pressing public health needs, fosters private sector support to enhance health and health care, and helps educate the public regarding the protection of individual, family and community health.
The Fund for Public Health in New York (FPHNY) seeks a Nutrition Technical Advisor,funded through a Sodium Reduction in Communities (SRC) grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This grant aims to increase access to and accessibility of lower sodium food options, to reduce sodium intake, and to continue to build practice-based evidence around effective population-based strategies to reduce sodium consumption at the community level.
It is the intention that any individual hired by FPHNY will become a DOHMH employee during the term of the SRC grant, subject to completion of all DOHMH qualification and New York City residency requirements and receipt of all necessary approvals.
This position will be housed within the Healthy Eating and Active Living unit in the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Tobacco Control, which is in the DOHMH Division of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. The bureau spearheads programs and initiatives to reduce the burden of chronic diseases and to address the underlying risk factors that lead to them, such as poor nutrition, physical inactivity and tobacco use. The Bureau promotes healthful environment and systems changes in the food and physical environment and develops programs that promote physical activity, healthy eating and smoking cessation. The Bureau also develops innovative strategies to convey critical health messages to the public.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Nutrition Technical Advisor will be a key team member in executing an innovative approach to changing the food environment. The Advisor reports to the Senior Manager and is responsible for supporting the implementation of the NYC Food Standards with food distributors, city agencies and hospitals. The Advisor will meet with and train these stakeholders, identify items that meet the NYC Food Standards, review nutrition fact panels, develop educational materials and lead staff trainings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide technical assistance to distributors, city agencies, and hospitals to support implementation of the NYC Food Standards
· Develop and present educational trainings tailored to individual organizations, and conduct presentations for staff
· Establish and maintain relationships with distributors, city agencies, and hospitals by conducting site visits, observing program practices, and supporting the implementation of the SRC grant evaluation
· Write and contribute to other materials as needed, including educational materials, research papers, website content, policy briefs, and reviews of scientific articles
· Keep abreast of current academic research on nutrition, obesity, and cardiovascular disease
· Ensure reporting requirements for grant deliverables are fulfilled
· Participate in other projects, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A master's degree from an accredited college in nutrition or in public health; or a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 18 semester credits in nutrition or public health on the graduate or undergraduate level, and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in nutrition education.

Job description The NY Common Pantry, the largest community based emergency feeding organization in New York City, is seeking a highly organized and charismatic Food Programs Manager. The Food Programs Manager is responsible for the day to day operation of NY Common Pantry's choice pantry, including Choice Direct (a web-based home ordering system) and Meal Program as well as maintenance of NY Common Pantry facilities related to food operations and building maintenance; agency-wide food procurement; and supervising Pantry, Soup Kitchen and Food Rescue employees. This is a full-time, exempt position.
Supervision:
· Supervise all Operations Associates, Meal Program Cook, Kitchen Aide and Van Drivers.
· Supervise all volunteers that work in NY Common Pantry's Choice Pantry and Meal Program including corporate groups, Sponsoring Organizations, schools, Board groups and individuals.
· Collaborate closely with the Development Associate for Volunteer Services to ensure volunteer needs are properly met.
· Supervise all food and supply deliveries: review invoices for accuracy; ensure that Operations Associate are inspecting the quality of all food being delivered and ensuring that all items are within acceptable "use by dates" and in acceptable condition.
· Ensure that Operations Associates maintain all food storage areas including appropriate rotation of food the ensure food freshness; all areas are clean and within health codes; and that trash and recycling are properly placed outside for collection.

Procurement:
· Procure all food for NY Common Pantry's food programs, including for the pantry program, meal program, Help 365, NY Common Pantry's case management program and nutrition education program.
· Ensure that food purchases adhere to NY Common Pantry nutrition standards.
· Manage food rescue operations, maximizing food donations and strengthening established relationships with corporate donors.
· Procure all non-food related supplies for the pantry program, meal program, 365 NY Common Pantry and nutrition education program.
· Conduct all bidding for food and food programs related purchases, including bi-annual official bidding process for NY Common Pantry's state contract.
· Prepare check requests for all food and non-food related purchasing.

Job Description: The Health and Wellness Coordinator (HWC) is responsible for working with families and young adults (18 – 26 years old) in supportive housing towards comprehensive physical and emotional health and independence. By emphasizing health and wellness and using a client centered approach, the HWC will provide individual and group interventions to maximize personal growth, housing stability, and achievement of goals, while also building a respectful and positive community. Duties:

Qualifications:

Summary of position

Interested in fieldwork on HIV-related issues?

The Center for HIV Educational Studies and Training (CHEST) is looking for a few strong public health students. Possible projects include working
in collaboration with community partners to assess the HIV risk of transgender men (people assigned female at birth) or supporting the work of the CHEST Community Advisory Board (CAB) which would mean working with CBOs and providers who work with HIV patients and communities across the city.

ABOUT CHEST
CHEST’s mission is to conduct research to identify and promote strategies that prevent the spread of HIV and improve the lives of people living with HIV.
It conducts research on social and psychological factors associated with HIV transmission and the wellbeing of those living with HIV, with a particular emphasis on the promotion of sexual health. It has been advocating for and working with the LGBT community since 1996. In addition, CHEST disseminates study findings to community organizations serving persons with HIV and at risk for HIV.

As an interdisciplinary academic research center (social work, psychology, public health, sociology, etc), CHEST supports post-doctoral fellows, doctoral candidates, masters’ students, and undergraduate interns. The majority of our doctoral students attend the CUNY Graduate Center‘s Health Psychology, Basic and Applied Social Psychology doctoral programs, or the doctoral program in Public Health.
CHEST HISTORY AND LEADERSHIP
Founded by Dr. Jeffrey T. Parsons, CHEST is part of Hunter College of the City University of New York, where Dr. Parsons is on the faculty of the Psychology Department. Role Summary

Support the implementation of nutrition strategies for PepsiCo with an emphasis on the Global Beverage Group (GBG). Develop product guidance, translate nutrition science into product renovation and innovation, and promote nutrition communication opportunities.

Key responsibilities
Provide nutrition science translation to global business partners and other corporation functions to enable portfolio innovation, transformation and science based business opportunities. Actively engage with R&D teams to promote nutrition opportunities that differentiate PepsiCo products. Effectively leverage existing and emerging nutrition science to provide science based opportunities and solutions for the GBG teams. Partner with internal and external experts to effectively build product renovation and innovation solutions. Provide science based nutrition communication solutions to business partners. Represent PepsiCo externally at conferences and industry events.

Percent Travel
Must be willing and able to travel 20-30% of the time.
Qualifications / Requirements
Requirements
MS in Nutrition Science with 5-6 years of nutrition science translation experience or PhD in Nutrition Science with 3 years of nutrition science translation experience. Registered Dietitian preferred, but not required. Demonstrated understanding of human nutrition, nutrient requirements and recommendations, scientific information gathering, synthesis, and communication, and clinical study interpretation. Proven communication skills with strong ability to translate nutrition science for both technical and non-technical partners. Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet timely deadlines.

The United Community Centers (UCC) is a community-based organization that provides services and support to residents of East New York, Brooklyn. For nearly 60 years, we've helped foster social change, worked with neighbors to address community concerns, and provided services to help make East New York a better, healthier place to live.

UCC is looking for an Outreach Specialist. This position is 20 hours/week.

About the Project:
Protecting The East is a community health project of United Community Centers with an emphasis on HIV prevention and women’s health. The mission of Protecting The East is to connect with youth and adults in our community through outreach and education, develop positive community spaces and create social norms that promote a healthier East New York.

Protecting The East is implementing Community Promise, an HIV-prevention intervention dedicated to changing social norms around condom use to improve sexual health for young women in the East New York community. In the process of achieving this, Protecting The East relies on community outreach, distribution of condoms and information to individuals and venues, building community partnerships, and health communications and social marketing campaigns.

DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Outreach and Media Specialist helps train and oversee Peer Educators and recruits and coordinates volunteers, conducts street and community outreach, develops community partnerships, co-facilitate workshops and presentations, and develops marketing and social media campaigns.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides support to Project Director in the planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of all components of Protecting The East.
Develop, and maintain community partnerships.
Develop, produce and review health education materials and social marketing campaigns.
Supports event recruitment and engagement.
Provides input in planning and evaluating events and programming.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date activity logs and reports.
Any other assignment that may arise in connection with the fulfillment of the above responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with social media and marketing.
HIV/AIDS and sexual health knowledge a must.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience working with diverse populations. Cultural competency a must.
Familiarity with the East New York community a must.
Bilingual English and/or Spanish speaking a plus.
Experience with graphic design or video production a plus.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays.

· Provide valuable information to help the patient stay as healthy as possible, educate and provide advice on what and how much to eat to improve patient health
· Review food and fluid intake and make recommendations, if necessary
· Consult with the physician regarding adjustments that may be needed
· Analyze trends over time to determine how the patient is responding
· Motivate patients to follow the prescribed eating plan
· Provide educational materials including, handouts and recipes
· Participates in QA/QAPI activities
JOB REQUIREMENTS · Must be a Registered Dietitian
· Minimum of two (2) years experience in clinical dietetics and/or nutrition; prior experience working in an outpatient dialysis clinic is a plus.

Main Responsibilities

•Conduct food safety, brand standards and other on-site evaluations at customer locations, to assess workplace health and safety
•Consult, educate and train customers on latest food safety, health, and sanitation practices
•Partner with Ecosure’s Account Management team to solve customers’ issues and assist in program rollouts
•Assist and support field service team members as needed to cover large assignments or vacant territories
•Perform activities that create a high level of customer satisfaction including the provision of accurate reports and effective customer communication and relationships
•Become a NEHA Certified Professional in Food Safety (CP-FS)
•Maintain professional credentials and remain knowledgeable on current state and federal industry regulations.
•Overtime will be required based on customer and business needs
•Nights and weekends will be required based on customer requirements. The specifics of the schedule will be discussed during the interview process
•This position requires completion of customer playground evaluations. EcoSure employees must be willing and able to complete hands-on inspection of playgrounds mimicking child’s play in the play structure (climbing, crawling in tight areas, going down tube slides, etc.)
•This position requires climbing steep indoor and outdoor one-story roof access ladders to complete roof inspections. EcoSure employees must be willing and able to climb steep indoor and outdoor one-story roof access ladders to complete roof inspections to confirm safety measures related to roof openings, electrical cords, and electrical outlets. Field Specialists are required to walk along the roof to ensure openings are clearly marked with fencing wire or plastic coverings, the roof is free of debris and use a circuit tester to check functionality of electrical outlets.

Location Information

Successful candidate must reside: Within 10 miles of Manhattan (except for Brooklyn).

Cities included in this territory: New York (44th St.), Port Washington, New York, Ozone Park, NY. Note territory alignments are reviewed on a quarterly basis and modified based on business need.

Percent of overnight travel required: Up to 25%.

Basic Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree with at least two (2) years experience in foodservice operations; OR Associate’s degree and four (4) years experience in foodservice operations
•Valid Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (2 years)
•Willing / able to travel overnight for business
•Ability to lift 25lbs (infrequent requirement)
