Subject: CUNY J-School Summer Intensive Digital Journalism Workshops for Undergrads and Faculty

Dear Colleagues,

I wanted to remind you of a terrific opportunity available this Summer at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism for your students and for colleagues from your faculty. We are really hoping to welcome as many undergraduates and faculty as possible from the CUNY community. The classes afford undergraduates a chance to add valuable skills and experience studying and working in the state of the art environment at CUNY J-School. For Journalism faculty, the class offers participants a valuable skills update along with added graduate credit for continued professional advancement. The course may also be taken as a non-credit offering. Registration is now underway.

We would greatly appreciate your help in making all your students as well as your fellow faculty members aware of these exciting classes for Summer 2014. Please call on me at any time if you need more information on the courses or on the registration process.

This two-week, three-credit course on advanced journalism skills is designed to provide high school journalism teachers with new tools for updating their student newspapers and magazines. Teachers will learn how to harness their students' smartphone, video and social media abilities in a journalistic form to create or bolster online news products Daily time commitment for this class is from 10 AM to 3 PM, including both class time and project time. The class will produce a digital project showcasing the skills taught. This class welcomes College journalism faculty, as well.
