Nutrition assistant needed for a busy medical weight loss practice in midtown. Responsibilities include taking vitals (weighing patient, taking BP, etc..), building rapport with patients, placing orders for supplies and foods as needed, providing information about our practice and assisting the dietitian and doctor as needed. Ideally, this individual has a degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or has completed a majority of the DPD courses.

*An interest in bariatric nutrition/medicine (non-surgical weight loss management) is a plus.
*Medical assistant background a plus (i.e venipuncture, EKG, BP, etc.) although the right person can be trained.


The ideal candidate must be:
-able to work full-time (please do not apply if you are in school part-time and have day classes)
-articulate and speak clearly
-experienced in dealing with patients and working in an office setting
-punctual

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Become versed in the agency mission, vision, and values, the funding and

The Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University seeks to fill a USDA-funded postdoctoral fellowship in Community Nutrition. The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent degree and a record of accomplishment in community nutrition, human development, public health or health communications, and will be committed to a career of research focused on obesity prevention among parents and youth. The successful candidate will need to travel to multiple sites in New York State so a valid driver’s license is required.

Research will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Jamie Dollahite, in collaboration with a team of researchers working in behavioral economics, and will involve coordination with and training of Cooperative Extension staff. The specific project is an integrated research-extension project that uses mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative) and focuses on changes in school food environments and communication of nutrition and physical activity messages to parents. The successful candidate will be responsible for process evaluation of the project, as well as collaboration in designing and evaluating messages sent to parents from schools regarding healthy food choice.

This appointment will be for one-year and may be renewed for up to 3 years in total, pending successful performance and available funding.

The Greater New York Dietetic Association (www.gnyda.org) is the professional association of registered dietitians, dietetic technicians- registered, and dietetics students in the New York City area. Throughout the year, we hold networking events. continuing education sessions, and public policy activities. We are currently looking for a new Student Committee Chair for our next programming year (June 2014-May 2015).

The Student Committee Chair is responsible for planning and executing student events for the GNYDA, including our popular Dietetic Internship Fair held every fall. The Chair also has to attend GNYDA Board of Directors meetings held about once per month on weekday evenings (the dates for which are determined on a month-by-month basis).

Overall Purpose

Specific Purpose
• To lead Concern Worldwide US's policy and advocacy work on food and nutrition security

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design and implement an advocacy strategy to influence policy and practice related to Food and Nutrition Security.
• Work both alone and in consortia to host high level events such as the 'Sustaining Political Commitments to Scaling Up Nutrition' June 2013 event.
• Actively engage in initiatives which will help advance Concern's policy agenda such as the 1,000 days partnership, Road to Rio Global Nutrition Advocacy Working Group, SUN movement, and InterAction Food Security Working Group.
• Actively coordinate, build coherence and create synergies with the Food and Nutrition Security advocacy work on-going in Concern Offices in Ireland, UK and those programme countries advancing this policy agenda.
• Work cross-organizationally to provide information to mapping mechanisms and pledge tracking initiatives (i.e. Interaction Food Security Pledge).
• Research and develop policy analysis and papers on a range of food and nutrition security related issues as they relate to Concern's global advocacy strategy.
• Conduct research and writing on US budgets and legislation as they relate to and support the advancement of Concern's hunger advocacy and other relevant areas.
• Collaborate with the Active Citizenship team on campaign events.
• Develop strategic partnerships with DC based organisations that enhance our program and policy work.
• Support the Concern US Senior Management Team and CEO with key policy and operational issues.

• 15% - Plan and participate in Division-wide activities and represent the Division of Nutrition on issues related to (childhood) obesity prevention strategies including monitoring and maintaining List Servs and general email inboxes;; coordinating the writing, editing and submission of the monthly Did You Know Facts for the Center for Community Heath (CCH) website; assisting Division and Bureau obesity prevention events, trainings and promotions; and responding to inquiries and requests for current nutrition information and resources.

• 10% - Actively participate in unit and bureau staff meetings and assignments. Meals On Wheels Director
Plans for the effective and efficient provision of Meals On Wheels (MOW) and Volunteer services. Provides leadership to MOW staff and volunteers and assures that objectives of services are met within regulatory guidelines and contract obligations. Establishes and maintains an environment focused on error free work, quality outcomes and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall management of the MOW program. Develop and maintain a cost-effective, customer oriented, service delivery system with a strong focus on continuous quality improvement.
• Responsible for direct and indirect supervision of all MOW staff and volunteers. Coordinate efforts of MOW staff and volunteers to assure timely delivery of services in accordance with all applicable standards.

• Work in collaboration with VNS Marketing and Communications to promote the MOW program throughout the community.
• Work in collaboration with VNS Development department on MOW fundraising activities and to identify and apply for available grants and new funding opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with government, sanitation, agency and nutrition regulations and guidelines.
• Consult with MOW meal preparation management and staff to assure quality standards is met.
• Establish and maintain vendor relationships and maintenance agreements.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business required. Master’s degree in business or related field preferred.
• Five to seven years’ experience in directing personnel and operations.
• Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate programs.
