Position: Organizing Fellow – Field Department

Organizing Fellows (OFs) are the face of Reshma for New York in communities across the city, working to advance Reshma’s agenda and grow the grassroots movement for electoral success in 2013.

Background

Reshma Saujani is a Democrat running for New York City Public Advocate. She is the former Deputy Public Advocate and the founder of Girls Who Code.

As a public servant, Reshma harnessed the power of her office to promote civic engagement and government accountability. She spearheaded public projects aimed at spurring citywide job and economic growth, engaging immigrant communities, supporting small businesses, improving education, creating public empowerment, and using technology to vastly improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of an OF is to recruit, manage, and work with volunteers to organize their communities and neighborhoods into teams that register, petition, and turnout voters. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to signing up volunteers, data entry, phone banking, planning and executing events and leading trainings; building relationships with community leaders; and ensuring data integrity. Organizing Fellows report directly to the Regional Field Directors.

Reshma for New York is committed to diversity among its staff, and recognizes that its continued success requires the highest commitment to obtaining and retaining a diverse staff that provides the best quality services to supporters and constituents. Reshma for New York is an equal opportunity employer and it is Reshma for New York’s policy to recruit, hire, train, promote and administer any and all personnel actions without regard to sex, race, age, color, creed, national origin, religion, economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ethnic identity or physical disability, or any other legally protected basis. Reshma for New York will not tolerate any unlawful discrimination and any such conduct is strictly prohibited.
