Subject: [PHCNPG] Weekly Public Policy Update

Academy Partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics
We recently partnered with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) sending this joint letter to key members of Congress regarding school meals. It is a very impactful relationship with a strong voice.

The issue of dismantling the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act comes up next week in Congress. We know it has become political and is no longer about good quality public policy. However we intend to keep promoting the message it needs to be about children's health and that should be the focus. A copy of the letter is attached.

2015 Public Policy Leadership Award
The Academy is seeking nominations to recognize member(s) of Congress who have demonstrated or have the potential to demonstrate outstanding service and support for nutrition and health issues of importance to the Academy and the public. The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, January 23, 2015. To nominate a Representative or Senator, simply have the affiliate leadership complete the application form. The nomination form is attached. Send nominations to Teresa Nece via email at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
