Summary of Position:

The Culinary Nutritionist supports SPE Certified’s certification and consulting activities as a member of the Culinary Nutrition Department.  For certification projects, the Culinary Nutritionist applies the principles of the SPE Charters and extensive nutritional analysis methods to certify food service operations, manage customer relationships, deliver trainings and work to adjust recipes, under the guidance of Sr. Culinary Nutritionists and SPE chefs.  For consulting engagements, the Culinary Nutritionist supports diverse activities including menu development, nutrition analysis, allergen analysis, legislative compliance reviews and sustainability evaluations.  In addition, the Culinary Nutritionist supports the nutrition department in other activities including charter updates and maintenance, social media content development and other business development and marketing related activities, as needed.



Responsibilities include: 

	Working with the SPE culinary nutrition team and customer’s chefs and staff to obtain, analyze and modify recipes to meet SPE criteria, conduct SPE trainings to restaurant staff and handle the day-to-day relationship with customers for recipe updates, marketing needs, answering questions and other requests.  Specifically, the Culinary Nutritionist is responsible for:

o	Application of SPE charters to food service operations regarding nutrition and sourcing criteria

o	Collaboration with SPE chefs and food service staff to develop and certify dishes

o	Recipe analysis based on SPE requirements, using SPE’s proprietary processes

o	Certification related documentation such as recipe and nutritional validation

o	Collection of website related content for food service operation web pages

o	Data entry of dishes into SPE Certified website

o	Training of restaurant staff

o	On-going management of customer relationship, including tracking and communication of client status and needs with Culinary Nutrition team and other relevant SPE departments

	Back up support of the Culinary Nutrition staff at SPE Certified’s sister restaurant, Rouge Tomate, for certification related activities, recipe and nutrition analysis, menu description development, allergen identification, etc.

	Working with consulting engagement project teams conducting nutrition research, recipe analysis, menu and recipe development, menu labels, nutrition facts labels, allergen analysis, legislative compliance reviews and sustainability evaluations.  Specifically including:

o	Project related research and skilled evaluation of data and findings

o	Use of MS Excel and MS Access for data analysis

o	MS PowerPoint presentation development and delivery to high level clients

	Support nutrition team in SPE Charter maintenance activities

	Collaboration with SPE culinary team on internal recipe development, testing and analysis

	Remain abreast of nutrition and food related science and industry developments

	As requested, work with Marketing and Sales department to participate in the promotion of SPE to customers, suppliers, scientific organizations and media agencies

	Work with interns and support development of training program

	Additional culinary nutrition related tasks, as needed



Qualifications:

	Bachelor degree in Nutrition or related field with RD credential

	Shared passion for food, nutrition and sustainability

	Experience conducting nutritional analysis of recipes using standard nutrition analysis software

	Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint; Experience using MS Access a plus

	Experience in food service industry preferred

	Excellent organizational skills and ability to work successfully on projects in parallel

	Excellent communication skills to facilitate cooperation with all staff levels, both internally and externally (restaurants, food service providers, executive teams, and fellow associates)

	Fluent in Mandarin preferred
