LaGuardia Community College Food & Nutrition Programs

LaGuardia Community College is seeking a Full-Time, Tenure Track Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator of Food and Nutrition to teach didactic courses and fieldwork and internship seminar courses in the Food and Nutrition degree programs with particular emphasis in the foodservice management area. The candidate will provide oversight of the experiential component of all Food and Nutrition Programs to ensure that learning outcomes are met and to evaluate the achievement of clinical competencies by students;  develop and maintain practice sites and clinical affiliation contracts for the dietetic technician program; develop the supervised practice sites and seminar for the foodservice management program; serve as liaison to the fieldwork / internship sites and attend to concerns and situations relative to the students’ experiences; maintain accurate records for each student enrolled in the didactic, laboratory, and fieldwork/internships courses;  assist in overall program evaluation and curriculum review of the programs; evaluate and initiate changes in the dietetic technician curriculum to reflect current CADE requirements and accreditation standards; provide academic advisement to students; participate in local/state/national affiliate meetings as necessary; keep current in the field of food and nutrition; coordinate campus-wide Food and Nutrition Program activities; conduct scholarly activity and disseminate results to academic and professional audiences.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. 



OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

Master’s degree in the field of Food and Nutrition; Registered Dietitian; Experience with dietetic technician/dietetic education programs; Foodservice management experience strongly preferred. Classroom teaching experience at the college or university level. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds. Excellent writing and communication skills.
