Subject: MALE MATTERS INVITE YOU TO SHAPE A RESEARCH AGENDA IN OUR
COMMUNITIES

Dear Students,

Get on board; YOUR HELP IS NEEDED TO SHAPE A RESEARCH AGENDA IN OUR
COMMUNITIES. Gain experience and Get Paid!

Hunter College's Male Matters is an Academy-Community Partnership initiative
intended to introduce underrepresented collegiate men and women to
innovative community research collaborations. This initiative is committed
to increasing students' interest in (1) remaining in college; (2) completing
their college course; and (3) pursuing community-based service and research.

The Male Matters Project is ready to take the next step and we want you to
be a part of it in a meaningful way. Given the status of Black men's health
in the US, we plan to conduct a HEALTH needs assessment within the Upper
Manhattan Community. You will participate in creating the research
instrument, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting findings in a
community forum.

We understand that as students, your time and resources are limited.
Therefore (1) this is a paid opportunity and (2) we would like to make the
best use of time possible. In order to accommodate class and work schedules
we offer two orientation meetings dates:

.	Monday October 22 from 6 - 7 pm
.	Wednesday October 24 from 1 - 2pm

At each meeting the project's goal and the role of the student researcher
will be described. You do not have to attend both. You choose.

This is your last opportunity to get on board. Please respond to Laurens Van
Sluytman, Project Coordinator at [log in to unmask] or call me at
212-452-7225.
