Volunteer opportunity description

World Cares Center (WCC), founded in the aftermath of the attacks of September 11, 2001 fosters sustainable, locally led disaster preparedness, response and recovery initiatives within communities worldwide. Throughout its decade of service, WCC has provided assistance to responders, volunteers, and survivors affected by 9/11, and continues to guide all levels within communities to respond effectively and collaboratively in the face of disasters. This "whole of community" inclusive approach leads to a more resilient recovery.

We have two Volunteer Coordination and Resiliency Centers, one in Staten Island and one in the Far Rockaways.

Volunteers on this day will perform basics of muck out and mold remediation of homes in Staten Island.

Volunteers should come prepared to participate in the entire process, which includes but may not be limited to: attending a briefing and debriefing, performing physical labor throughout the day, and exposure to mold.

All Personal Protective Equipment will be provided, along with a full safety briefing and an experienced team lead on site.

To get involved, visit our volunteer calendar at the end of this page http://www.worldcares.org/content/get-involved/register-clean-project. Then, click on the date in Staten Island, October 21 or 26, for which you are available to volunteer.
