Greetings Hunter College pre-health and science community,

The Hunter College Pre-Health Office, along with four leaders of current and active pre-health societies, who are also part of the Pre-Health Student Advisory Council, are about to launch a newly-founded mentoring program for high school students. We are currently seeking qualified undergraduate pre-health and science students to serve as mentors! Sounds cool, does it not?

The prospective mentees attend the Manhattan Hunter Science High School and are in need of mentors to provide them with the necessary tools to make the high school-to-college transition memorable, manageable, and less painstaking. Lets not forget POSSIBLE.

Do you remember your transition from high school to college? Some of you may agree that it was difficult. Well, with your helping hands, these students can flourish after they alleviate and eliminate some of the "queasy transition pressures" at the hands of YOU. Rewarding, huh?

Sometimes, we just need that "someone" by our side to coach, boost and assure us that the journey will be doable and worthwhile. Someone has once told you that "you could do it" or to "not give up," so pay homage to that person by reliving their practices and lending a hand to someone who can benefit from your aid. Even Junot Díaz agrees! He once said, "Colleagues are a wonderful thing - but mentors, that's where the real work gets done." And the real work shall get done and done well!

"But what's in it for me?" someone said. Some responded, "good karma" and skills to help you succeed and stand out. Once you become a mentor, you will undoubtedly establish, develop and improve your interpersonal, social and mentorship skills. These are skills that almost every job or professional school require. Some pre-health students are professional school bound, but are in search of opportunities to better their interpersonal skills to ensure that they will be phenomenal healthcare providers. Thankfully, the search for that opportunity ends here! You have found it, so submit your application TODAY!

Before you fill out the application, take note of the qualifications:

-You MUST commit to one year of service (flies by like a jet on turbo).

-Have at least a 3.3 overall and science GPA (these GPA standards are requirements in order to qualify for a Committee Letter from the Pre-Health Advising Office for admission to professional schools).

-You MUST be a sophomore, junior or senior.

To complete an application please use this link https://ww3.hunter.cuny.edu/prehealth/view.php?id=58

Once your completed application is received and reviewed, you will be notified if you advance to the interview round. After your interview, you MUST attend the mandatory training and shortly after, you will meet your mentee!

**Please note that applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.**

We hope to see your application!
