COMMUNITY RELATIONS INTERN				March 2014

ABOUT US:  
Weill Cornell Medical College is one of the nation’s premiere medical colleges and focuses on its three-pronged mission of education, research and clinical care. The objectives of the Office of Government & Community Affairs, a division of the Office of External Affairs, is to raise the profile and presence of Weill Cornell staff and faculty in the community, fully engage advocacy and service organizations with similar missions, and to build consensus and visibility among government officials and peer organizations on key issues. 

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW: 
Weill Cornell Medical College’s Office of External Affairs is seeking an intern to become a part of its Government & Community Affairs team with the primary responsibility of creating and maintaining a database inventory of all Government & Community Affairs contacts.  The intern will report to the Manager of Community Relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•	Create and maintain the government and community affairs contact population within the Blackbaud (BBEC) database.
•	Assist with researching/compiling community contact information/details.
•	When necessary, outreach to individuals, organizations, elected officials and confirm information.

REQUIREMENTS:
•	Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite tools including Word and Excel.
•	Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Detail oriented
•	Database experience is a strong plus and a willingness to learn BBEC.
•	Must be willing to work as part of a team and support others in the department, demonstrating flexibility and a positive attitude.  

The internship will run for 10 weeks beginning as soon as possible. Interns are expected to work 10-15 hours a week and will be paid $15/hour. Eligible students may receive academic credit for their internship. An interest in community or government relations is a plus.
