Summer Health Internship Program (SHIP)

For rising high school juniors and seniors AND college freshmen and sophomores

Program Dates: July 7-August 14

Accepted students are placed at health facilities for 3 days a week Monday through Wednesday for the duration of the 6-week program. Students also attend didactic sessions on Thursdays, where they get the opportunity to learn about a variety of health careers and topics in health disparities, hear from diverse guest speakers, and visit health professions schools.

This program is offered by all three AHECs in the NY Metro Area. Please see our websites for applications and further details: Brooklyn-Queens-Long Island, Manhattan-Staten Island, and Bronx-Westchester. Application deadlines differ between centers, but program dates are the same.

Health Careers Internship Program (HCIP)

For rising college juniors, seniors, and post-baccalaureate

Program Dates: June 30-August 8

Accepted students are placed at health facilities for 4 days a week Monday through Thursday for the duration of the 6-week program. Students also attend didactic sessions on Thursdays, where they get the opportunity to network with other health professions students and medical students in the context of guest speaker-led workshops covering a variety of health topics including health disparities, immigrant health, and health policy, among other topics.

This is a partnership program offered by Manhattan-Staten Island and Bronx-Westchester AHECs. Students living in the NY Metro Area are eligible to apply. 

Apply online by March 31st for Summer 2014.
