The University of Queensland School of Medicine in Brisbane Australia devotes a portion of its program to a U.S. cohort who spend 2 years in Brisbane and then 2 years of clinical training at an outstanding academic medical center in New Orleans. It is an excellent fit for many qualified students who could not find a place at a U.S. medical school.
If you have any applicants from the 2010 cycle who are still considering their medical school options, or if any of your 2011 applicants who received their September MCAT scores may be interested in the program, we would be happy to speak with them either about entry in January 2011 or January 2012 (the start of the Australian school year).
The University of Queensland School of Medicine in Brisbane, Australia, ranked #28 in the world (US News), has opened a U.S. clinical campus at the Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, Louisiana. The current first year students had an average GPA of 3.4 and average MCATs of 28 (the minimum credentials for consideration are a B average and an 8, 8, M, 8 on the MCATs). The University of Queensland’s School of Medicine takes students who have completed a BA degree and our Ochsner cohort is slightly older than the current entering classes at US medical schools.
