 Thank you for your interest in the Mentoring in Medicine Program.  Summer is a great time to explore your interest in medicine!  Try to gain valuable experiences that will help you become a competitive applicant to health professional school.  Please read the entire email.  Please help spread the word.  Below are a few upcoming opportunities:



Mentoring in Medicine Programs



1-Emergency Department Clinical Exposure and Mentoring Program (ED-CEMP)  (Must be from the NYC area)

Eligibility:  College and post-baccalaureate students and students under-represented in medicine who live in the NYC area and intend to apply to health professional school.  All are encouraged to apply.   However, students in health professional school do not qualify. The program entails the following minimum number of hours for completion over an 8-week period (summer) and 6-month period (during school year) at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx:

(1)  60 hours of volunteering

(2)  20 hours shadowing

(3)  20 hours quality improvement research-hospital/community

(4)  20 hours of community service project(s)

Fee:  FREE

2-Medical Pathway Program (MPP) (Virtual) This medical school preparatory boot camp targets low-income students and/or students under-represented in medicine. All are welcome to apply. This program accelerates a candidate's application to medical school by helping to increase his/her competitiveness.

Eligibility:  New or re-applicants to medical school.  Must be taking/have completed Biochemistry and Physics.



Fees are as follows:

Summer Intensive (MPP 20)

10-week program (6/26/2021-9/4/2021)

$799.00

Year Long (MPP 21)

26-week program (10/2/21-4/2/22)

$1,999.00

3-MIM Teaching Fellows Program (In-Person in NYC and Virtual)

  Students teach in the MIM after school and Saturday programs, participate in activities fairs, create curricula, serve as tutors for high school and college students and participate in a mentoring program in person and virtual.

Eligibility:  Must be a college or post-baccalaureate student on a pre-health track.

Fee:  Students will receive a modest stipend for their hours.

4-Mentoring in Medicine Quality Management Internship The Mentoring in Medicine Quality Management Internship is an unpaid, 20-week internship at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx (NCB) with a commitment of 15 hours per week that is set to begin Monday, June 28. 1-Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Summer Research Seminar Series (Virtual) The Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program (HOPP) hosts a Summer Student Program designed for high school students who are interested in pursuing careers in the biomedical sciences. The summer student program is hosting a virtual Summer Research Seminar Series from June to August 2021.
