Enhancing Your Medical Career with a Public Health Experience
February 5, 2014
7:00 pm – 8:00 pm EST

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is proud to host this webinar in partnership with Primary Care Progress, an organization that is committed to transforming the primary care workforce through interprofessional collaboration and strategic local advocacy.

This webinar is an opportunity for students, residents, and mentors to understand the value of a hands-on public health experience during their medical career. We will highlight a specific CDC training program as one pathway to pursuing a meaningful public health experience in medical education, namely the Epidemic Intelligence Service—a two-year post-graduate training program of service and on-the-job learning.

Attendees will be able to submit questions during an extended Q&A session at the end.
Speakers will include:
Denise Koo, MD, MPH
Sr. Advisor for Health Systems, CDC Office of Public Health Scientific Services (OPHSS)
Malika Fair, MD, MPH
Director, Public Health Initiatives, AAMC

Andrew Morris-Singer, MD
President and Co-Founder, Primary Care Progress (Moderator)

Joseph Forrester, MD
General Surgery Resident, Stanford University; and current EIS Officer, CDC National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Diseases (NCEZID)
Miriam Shiferaw, MD
Clinical Research Fellow, Montefiore Medical Center; and current EIS Officer, CDC Center for Global Health
