To the Pre-Health Advising Office,

We are writing to invite students at Hunter College interested in pursuing a
career in medicine to a program on April 24, 2010 from 8am to 10am at NYU
Hospital for Joint Diseases. The program will present general information
about a career in orthopaedic surgery in addition to how to prepare once in
medical school for residency positions in this competitive field. Students
participating in the program will be treated to breakfast prior to hearing
presentations from Dr. Kenneth Egol, Chief of the Orthopaedic Trauma
Service, Dr. Joseph Zuckerman, Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU HJD
and Chairman of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Dr. Toni
McLaurin, Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery on various aspects of
the preparation process for applying into a residency program in Orthopaedic
Surgery. Current residents at different stages of training will be present
following the presentations to discuss their experience through the
application process as well as to provide insight into the training and
daily life of an orthopaedic surgery resident. Students will then be given
ample opportunity to ask questions of both the Faculty and House Staff.

It is our hope that you will encourage students at your program to attend
this event. Our goal is to increase interest in this surgical subspecialty
and to encourage students to further their interest by participating in an
Orthopaedic Surgery rotation during their clinical years. Please see the
attached flier detailing information on the program and feel free to direct
any questions you might have to Nicole Montero at 212-598-6460.

Thank you,
Nicole M Montero
