Part-Time Lab Helper
(Monday – Friday 1pm-5pm)
Job Description: Part-Time Lab Helper
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; educational emphasis in biological
science preferred. Previous experience in a laboratory environment is desired. Must be detailoriented,
able to follow instructions and carry out routine tasks, have the ability to interact well
with other laboratory members and be enthusiastic and interested in being a vital supportive
team member necessary.
Responsibilities: The Laboratory Helper will perform general laboratory maintenance duties
including maintenance and organization of stock closet and laboratory rooms with lab supplies.
Will pick-up reagents and supplies from the receiving department and store room, unpack
deliveries and enter all received items in receiving log-book, deliver item to the person who
ordered it, seal and remove bags with contaminated plastic ware and replace with new bags,
take contaminated glassware to the autoclave person on the 5th floor and return the cleaned
and sterilized glassware back to the 8th floor, keep the dry ice chest filled with dry ice (3x a
week), and take packages to mail room or FedEx drop off.
