Good afternoon,

I wanted to remind you about Upstate Medical University's Early Assurance MD Program for College Sophomores. The application is open now until July 1st for current sophomores (rising juniors) to apply to our program.

Students that have completed two years of college study but have advanced standing due to AP credit are eligible to apply. The EAP program is designed to free students from the pressures associated with applying to numerous medical schools, allowing them more freedom to pursue unique academic interests and experiences. It is NOT intended to accelerate the length of time of an undergraduate education.

Applicant to the Early Assurance Program must have:

A minimum overall grade point average of 3.50

A minimum science grade point average of 3.50 in required medical school prerequisites

Must have SAT score of 1360 or better (combined Critical Reading & Math) or ACT score of 30 Composite or better (top score in each section will be considered)

Any 5 out of the 8 science courses listed below completed prior to application:
General Biology I & lab (3-4 semester hours) General Biology II & lab (3-4 semester hours) General Chemistry I & lab (3-4 semester hours) General Chemistry II & lab (3-4 semester hours) Organic Chemistry I & lab (3-4 semester hours) Biochemistry (3-4 semester hours) General Physics I & lab (3-4 semester hours) General Physics II & lab (3-4 semester hours)

Accepted students are required to complete their remaining two years of college, maintain a 3.50 science GPA (in required medical school prerequisites) and a 3.50 overall GPA, and must achieve a recommended score of 510 on the MCAT exam by August 31st of the year prior to entry. A maximum of two attempts will be allowed (if needed) to obtain this score. Accepted students are also expected to continue relevant volunteer experiences.

Apply Online At: http://www.upstate.edu/com/admissions/options/soph.php

Please let me know if you or your students have any further questions!
