The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in SUNY Downstate Medical Center is seeking a Research Assistant to join our team of researchers studying cardiovascular diseases.  This is a full-time, entry-level position perfect for a pre-med student, or college graduate interested in medicine, who would like to gain clinical experience and to be exposed to the processes of data management, analysis, and other aspects of scientific research. 
Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Epidemiology and Clinical Research, responsibilities will include: 
•	Designing and implementing study protocols and research grant proposals. 
•	Performing literature reviews. 
•	Recruiting patients for research studies. 
•	Scheduling subjects for clinical objective tests and performing baseline and follow-up interviews. 
•	Managing various databases associated with study protocols. 
•	Performing statistical analyses and organizing results for presentation. 
•	Participating in the editing and submission of abstracts and manuscripts to scientific meetings and/or publications. 
•	Working closely with faculty in project execution, review of clinical charts and assembly of presentations for various scientific meetings. 
•	Performing other tasks assigned for a project by the PI and supervisor, as necessary. 
The applicant must be proficient with Microsoft Office and have familiarity with statistical software. 
The position prefers a commitment of approximately 2 years.  Please include a short description of goals and intended career. 
The position is open to recent college graduates.  Applicants must possess a BA/BS or other higher education degree.  Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
