Alternative/complementary medicine is a small but growing field in
veterinary medicine. Its existence in the formal curriculum is
minimal, but Tufts does offer electives and other opportunities in this
area. Below is a description of the student club on campus:
* *American Holistic Veterinary Medicine Association*
The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association is an
organization whose purpose is to function as a forum for the
exploration of alternative and complementary areas of health care
in veterinary medicine. At TCSVM, you can join the student chapter
of AHVMA. We invite practitioners of many varied modalites to
come speak, invite our members to participate in hands-on-labs,
and encourage our members to learn more about non-traditional
modalities including acupuncture, cranio-sacral, hydrotherapy,
massage, chiropractic therapy, preventative care, myotherapy, and
more.
If you have a student with this interest, I can put him/her in contact
with our student group.
