Subject: AEJMC panel on collaboration, new news

Hi, all --

Here's the heads-up on what could be a blockbuster session at AEJMC
this summer in Washington, D.C. Alas, it has an awful time slot --
hence the advance notice. If you're attending the conference, please
plan to stay long enough to hear these leaders talk about the growing
role of collaboration in the production of new-media news:

Jennifer Carroll, vice president, new media content, Gannett Corp.
John Jackson, online editor, Roanoke.com Christina Pino-Marino,
multimedia journalist, WashingtonPost.com Thomas Kennedy, managing
editor/multimedia, Washingtonpost.Newseek Interactive Ron Fournier,
online political editor, AP Multimedia

The time is Sunday, Aug. 12, 1:30-3. I'll moderate; the Media
Management and
Economics and Newspaper divisions are co-sponsors. I've promised the
panelists that, despite the awful time, there's a tremendous amount of
interest in
what they'll be discussing. Carroll is an architect of Gannett's new
collaborative information center structure -- and she was instrumental
in the
development of the New Media Lab Initiative here at Cronkite/ASU.
Jackson heads up
some of the most innovative multimedia work being done by newspapers
today.
Pino-Marino, formerly a print reporter, has made the move to both mojo
(mobile
journalist) and videographer. Kennedy oversees two top multimedia
sites.
Fournier is breaking new ground with the Associated Press and its
multimedia
reporting.

Please come!

Thanks,
lj
