United Planet is searching for a Ghana-based Country Coordinator to help United Planet further develop our existing volunteer program and expand our
support of local NGOs and projects.   This highly competitive position
requires a compassionate, globally minded, hard-working individual with strong communications, leadership, and organization skills. July 16, 2012 start date preferred.

United Planet sends volunteers to Ghana from 1-12 weeks to support vital community service projects, immerse in the local culture and language, and explore important historical and cultural locations. As a vital United Planet team member, the Country Coordinator will:

*         Develop and expand a hosting volunteer program in Ghana

*         Seek out and work with host families, schools, NGOs, and other
civil society organizations to provide support to local organizations, and meaningful and memorable experiences to volunteers

*         Conduct program orientations and coordinate volunteer experiences

*         Develop and evaluate special educational, humanitarian, and
peace-building projects

*         Prepare cross-cultural training materials and cultural activities
for participants

*Qualifications: *

*         Fluent English skills required

*         Superb leadership, organization, and communication skills

*         Experience living and working in Ghana or West Africa

*         Availability to travel to Volta, Cape Coast, Ho, and Accra

*         Resourceful, confident, and goal-oriented

*         Community service experience preferred

*         International travel experience preferred

*         Self Starter with an entrepreneurial spirit

*         Ability to effectively mediate conflicts

*         Ability to serve as a leader in emergency situations
