Subject: Programs: Study Food Sovereignty in Peru

Hello:

The deadline to apply for MESA's Intro to Food Sovereignty winter program is coming up.

We are looking for students who are passionate about sustainable agriculture, food sovereignty conflict and reaching across borders to build a more sustainable global food system.

MESA-Peru Winter 2013-2014 is a 3-week Introduction to Food Sovereignty in Peru taking place Dec. 27th 2013 - Jan. 19th, 2014. The program integrates academic learning with hands-on experiences in order to equip a new generation of agrarians and food justice activists to rebuild our global food system through sustainable innovation and ancestral knowledge. Participants will have the option to take a 3-day language intensive course in Lima, experience homestay and small-farm life with MESA alums located throughout the country, and tour and volunteer at current food sovereignty projects in and around Lima. This dynamic hands on experience will be grounded in online experiential curriculum co-created by professors at UC Berkeley and UC Santa Cruz and La Molina National Agrarian University in Peru.

Deadline to apply is November 11, 2013. Please visit
