Dear Subscribers to the AILACTD-L List,

I have recently received this Call for Papers from the new editor of Inquiry with a request to circulate it to you on the List. All the information you need is right on the CFP, and I hope that those of you who have an interest in philosophy for children will find this project particularly interesting.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Inquiry: Critical Thinking Across the Disciplines is pleased to announce a special issue dedicated to Philosophy for Children

Introduction:

Inquiry: Critical Thinking Across the Disciplines is a forum for the discussion of issues related to the theory, practice, and pedagogy of critical thinking across the disciplines, from precollege to university settings. Those interested in Philosophy for Children (P4C) have often appealed to increases in critical thinking skills and dispositions as a positive byproduct of discussion-based philosophical exercises with children and pre-college students. In short, there is a great deal of overlap between P4C and Critical Thinking. This issue of Inquiry aims to explore the similarities and shared mission of the two disciplines. Consequently, authors are encouraged to consult the 50-year body of scholarship on P4C and critical thinking, and papers should address both Critical Thinking and P4C broadly construed.

Submission Details:

Submissions should be approximately 5,000-8,000 words and prepared for blind review. Please see the instructions to authors regarding formatting, including conforming to APA style and being free of footnotes or endnotes. Given the diverse nature of the field and of our readership, we ask that authors present early in the manuscript the manner in which “critical thinking” is to be understood. Please email your submission to [log in to unmask] by July 15th. The best submissions will be published in the summer edition of the journal.

Timetable:

Deadline for paper submissions: July 15th

Notification of Acceptance: July 30th

Deadline for submission of Revised Papers: August 15th
