We need members, students and friends of CUNY to go to ACT NOW and send the first letter highlighted in the red box. That letter is regarding the University's funding from the City of New York. The Mayor's budget modification would cut $5.4 million out of THIS YEAR's BUDGET!!! That would erase all the gains we have made in the last two years. In addition to that, he proposes $17.4 million in cuts out of next year's budget. Of that total $10 Million is in FINANCIAL AID for STUDENTS....He wants to eliminate the Vallone Scholarships, which provided aid to 8,000 students this year and the critical Safety Net Program, which provided assistance to 12,000 community college students who couldn't afford the $300 tuition increase imposed last year.
