( BLACK PR WIRE) New York, NY, March 20 –Friday, March 31, 2006 will mark the application deadline for The Jackie Robinson Foundation scholarship.  Established in 1973 as a vehicle to perpetuate the pioneering legacy of the baseball and social luminary, The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides four-year college scholarships to minority students who have demonstrated records of academic distinction, leadership capacity and financial need.

Students may elect to use the award at any four-year accredited institution.  In addition to the financial assistance component, The Jackie Robinson Foundation Education and Leadership Development Program (ELDP) includes mentoring, leadership development training, career exploration programming, internship placement assistance and networking opportunities.  Every March during their four years of college, all Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholars descend on New York for a four-day Networking Weekend which includes seminars on a variety of professional development topics.  The Jackie Robinson Foundation scholarship award covers the tuition of this conference.

Eligible students may apply ONLY at the Foundation’s website, www.jackierobinson.org.  The Jackie Robinson Foundation also requires that applicants register online with SAT and/or ACT so that scores can be reported directly to the Foundation.  The following codes provide direct routing to the Foundation:
