I have arranged for Dr. Flowers to make a presentation of his on-line MCAT
course here at Hunter on November 30th. He will make two presentations
between 11-2PM. Hopefully students will be able to make one of the
sessions-- lst one from 11-12:15 and the second from 12:45-2:00PM. The half
hour break will give us time for refreshments. You can attend either
session and feel free to come at any time during either presentation! He is
flying in from Wisconsin so I want to see many, many students there! The
room is not set yet---I am trying to get 217West but we have not confirmed
this yet. Please tell your friends about this opportunity. This is the
ONLY time he will be here in NY and his course will allow you to practice
for the MCAT online--important because the new MCAT will be online only as
of January 2007! Undergrads! I challenge you to show up! The postbaccs
are ALWAYS taking advantage of these opportunities! You need to do so as
well! Also, below is another volunteer program.

X-mas vacation is a great time for you to either begin your volunteering or
prepare for volunteering in the spring. As you can see from the site below
you must often follow a series of steps to volunteer and this may take alot
of time! So during the break you should get yourself positioned to begin
volunteering for the spring or summer.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Volunteer Requirements, Application & Orientation
<http://www.wehealny.org/../live/images/shim.gif>

Becoming a Volunteer is a multiple step process. The first requires the
Volunteer Applicant to gather some information about themself. This
information is listed in the Requirements below. The second step is to take
our Volunteer Challenge Exam; and the third step is to call the Volunteer
Office and schedule an interview.

All the necessary information, forms and steps you need to take prior to an
interview are as follows:

*	Review the Basic Volunteer Requirements <> to obtain the necessary
documents

*	Have your physician complete and sign the Medical History and
Physical
<http://www.wehealny.org/services/slr_volunteer/Medical%20History%20Form.pdf
> Examination Form

*	Read the Volunteer
<http://www.wehealny.org/services/slr_volunteer/Volunteer%20Core%20Competenc
y%20Handbook%202006.pdf> Core Competency Handbook

*	Complete the Volunteer Challenge
<http://www.wehealny.org/services/slr_volunteer/Volunteer%20Challenge%20Exam
%202006.pdf> Exam

Do NOT print the Volunteer Core Competency Handbook - it is 74 pages.
However, do print and complete the Volunteer Challenge Exam (4 pages) and
bring the completed exam to your interview.

*	Bring the completed Challenge Exam, the Medical History Form, and
the appropriate required documents with you to the interview.

Orientation is also a multiple step process, the first step is to read the
Volunteer Core Competency Handbook and complete the Volunteer Challenge
Exam. The remaining orientation takes place after you have been accepted as
a volunteer.

NOTE:
COMPLETION OF THE VOLUNTEER CHALLENGE EXAM AND OBTAINING THE APPROPRIATE
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS DOES NOT GUARANTEE A VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENT.
