The fourth graf of The Times story on last night's debate, refers to
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton as "... the two most closely watched
candidates of the night...."

Quiz: who is doing this "close watching"?

Does the phrase describe your focus on the debate?

Here's an interesting sidelight: A poll conducted by the University of
Iowa earlier this month carried the following headline:

"Poll: Iowa Dems Favor Clinton, Edwards....
<http://news-releases.uiowa.edu/2007/april/040307poll.html>

In Iowa, apparently, a different pair of candidates is "most closely watched."

So, again, who are The Times' "close watchers"?
