^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Summer Medical and Dental Education Program seeks college student applicants The AAMC is accepting applications for the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP), a free six-week academic enrichment program for freshman and sophomore college students who are interested in a career in medicine or dentistry. SMDEP participants benefit from academic instruction in the basic sciences (organic chemistry, physics, biology) and math (precalculus/calculus), as well as career development advice, some clinical exposure, a learning-skills seminar, and a financial planning workshop. The program is held at 12 locations across the country. Applications for the summer 2008 program are due March 1. The SMDEP is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation with direction and technical assistance provided by the AAMC and the American Dental Education Association.
