Panel: How Law Affects Community Health Outcomes and Impacts Dietary Choices


Panel speakers will address how policy, regulatory and legislative efforts
impact community health outcomes, and how lawyers can support social justice
efforts to shape law, policy and public perception of social policy and
health-related problems. Panelists include: 

Benjamin Thomases, Food Policy Coordinator for New York City, responsible
for coordinating efforts of various City agencies to improve access to
healthy food for low-income New Yorkers, and responsible for convening the
Food Policy Task Force. 

Fernando Ramirez, Esq., practitioner specializing in entertainment law with
a strong background in environmental justice issues and social justice
causes. 

James Subudhi, Sustainability Coordinator, WEACT, a non-profit organization
focusing on environmental justice issues and community empowerment on
health-related matters. 

Moderator: Professor Jenny Rivera, Director, Center on Latino and Latina
Rights and Equality.
