Dear Colleagues,
Howard University in cooperation with the Atlantic-Coast Social
Behavioral and Economic Sciences AGEP (NSF funded) will sponsor a Graduate
School Visitation and Undergraduate Research Program from September 20-22, 2009
on the Howard University Campus in Washington, DC. Please share information
about this opportunity with your colleagues and students.
During the visitation, students will tour the Howard campus, visit
laboratories, interact with faculty who make funding and admissions decisions,
and graduate students and experience a sampling of life at Howard and in Washington, DC. Students will also have the opportunity
to showcase their own research. All expenses for travel, lodging, food and
social events will be paid by the Howard University SBE AGEP. The application deadlines are September 3, 2009
(Visitation Program Application) & September 8, 2009 (Abstract Submission).
Please see attached documents for details on the application process or

.
The AC-SBE Alliance is designed to increase the number of underrepresented
minorities who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents
completing the Ph.D. in SBES (social, behavioral and economic sciences)
disciplines. It also seeks to increase the number of individuals in these
disciplines who will pursue careers in the professoriate. Applicants must be recommended by a
faculty member, be in their junior or senior year and have a minimum
cumulative 3.2 GPA.
I would like to thank you in advance for assisting us in disseminating this
information. Please direct all inquiries to Dr. Kamilah Woodson at [log in to unmask] or Ms. Koren Bedeau at [log in to unmask] or call 202 806 6800.
Sincerely,
Orlando L Taylor, Ph.D.
Vice Provost for Research
and Dean, Graduate School
PI, AC-SBE AGEP
Please
note that acceptance to this program does not guarantee acceptance to Howard
University. However, participation in the program places students on the inside
track for acceptance due to opportunities to interact with admission staff and
financial aid decision makers. Apply asap because space is limited!
