Pre-Medical Mentoring Program
Dear Pre-Medical Advisor,
New York Medical College would like to invite you to participate in a newly
established, student-run Premedical Mentoring Program. This program is
designed to support pre-medical students in your school with education and
guidance about applying to medical school. As part of this program, we are
planning an all day medical student run conference focusing on the
application process, such as interviewing skills, advice from current
medical students on personal statements, and the MCAT. Additionally, the
conference will include presentations by clinical and basic science faculty
offering a glimpse into our medical education program. Pre medical students
will be paired with a first or second year medical student from New York
Medical College in a mentoring partnership that will continue after the
conference and hopefully for the duration of the application process. There
is no fee for this program.
The "Journey to Medicine" all day conference will take place on November 14,
2009 from 10am to 5pm. Please advise the students to arrive at least
fifteen minutes in advance to expedite the sign-in process. On the following
pages, you will find the agenda for the day. If you have any questions,
please contact any of the coordinators or the Office of Admissions.
To register for the mentoring program itself and/or the conference, please

[log in to unmask] by Friday, November 6, 2009. It is important that
the students register with us so that we can plan accordingly. Note that
the students do not have to attend the conference to obtain a mentor,
however as you can see from the enclosed agenda we have a very exiting
informational program in which we hope all premedical students can benefit
from.
