Subject: Symposium on November
21st
Dear Ms.
Wood-Hill,
The 3rd Annual New York Regional Symposium of the American Physician Scientists
Association (APSA) will be taking place November 21, 2009 at Mount Sinai School
of Medicine. APSA is a national student organization dedicated to serving
physician-scientists in training and is particularly focused on providing
resources, networking and career development. One goal of our
organization is to provide vertical mentoring for pre-medical, medical, and
MD/PhD students interested in having a research component to their
career.
The 2009 Symposium will feature keynote presentations focused on research and
career development by Jean-Laurent Casanova, MD, PhD., Jo Hannafin, MD,PhD, and
Elaine Fuchs, PhD. Breakout sessions with panel discussions will allow
attendees to gather information about a broad variety of topics including MD
vs. MD/PhD vs. PhD career options, transitions throughout MD/PhD training, and
advice on residency programs and admissions.
This year, we are very fortunate to have Dr.
Skip Brass, the Director of the MD/PhD Program at the University of
Pennsylvania, providing admissions advice to pre-medical students in
attendance.
Could you forward the updated notice below to the pre-medical students in your
school?
Thank you in advance
for your cooperation, and we hope many of your students will benefit from
attending this symposium!
Sincerely,
David Braun
President, American Physician Scientists Association
