The Women of Color Policy Network at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, NYU is hiring for two full-time positions and one part-time position.

 

MISSION: Founded in 2000 by Walter Stafford as part of the Roundtable of Institutions of People of Color, the Women of Color Policy Network at New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Serice is the country’s only research and policy institute focusing on women of color at a nationally ranked top ten school of Public Affaris. The Network conducts original research and collects critical data on women of color that is used to inform public policy outcomes at the local, state and national levels. The Network also serves as a hub for women of color scholars, leaders and practitioners.

 

SENIOR POLICY ANALYST: The Senior Policy Analyst at the Women of Color Policy Network at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, NYU will report directly to the Executive Director and help guide policy and advocacy efforts of the Institute. S/he will be responsible for overseeing the production and dissemination of Network research and reports related to women’s economic security, with a special emphasis on women of color and single-women heads of households.  S/he will also develop Network policy briefs and positions papers; monitor relevant legislation and public policies at the state and national levels; and conduct relevant research on topics of interest to the Network.

 

S/he will oversee and manage policy related programs of the Network and supervise policy associates and staff. The Senior Policy analyst will also oversee the development and implementation of the Network’s policy and advocacy agenda, represent the Network at conferences and convenings and work to increase the visibility and reach of our work at the local, state and federal levels.

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a proactive, self-starter with excellent writing and analytical skills.  S/he should hold a master’s degree; PhD preferred in public policy, economics, political science, sociology, or related field. The candidate must have at least two years of quantitative/qualitative research experience, preferably on topics related to women’s economic security, poverty, welfare reform, workforce development, or inequalities and two-three years of experience in staff management and program development. The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated proficiency in using Excel and SAS statistical software to summarize and analyze large data files.

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR: The Program Administrator at the Women of Color Policy Network at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, NYU will report directly to the Executive Director and will be responsible for providing financial management and administrative support to advance the Network’s research and advocacy agenda. S/he will also provide logistical and programmatic for Network research related events and programs.

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, multi-tasker with excellent program management and organizational skills. S/he should hold a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred in public policy, financial management, accounting or related field. The candidate should have at least two years of in program management and financial management experience, preferably in a non-profit setting. S/he should also have a demonstrated proficiency in using Excel and other operations software.

Part-time Project Coordinator: The project coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the Lead the Way Initiative, the Network’s signature leadership program for emerging women of color Executive Directors and mid-level managers. Specifically, s/he will coordinate the application process and outreach, plan on-going enrichment symposiums for fellows and monthly newsletter, manage pre-and-post retreat logistics and planning, manage follow-up events including the Megan E. McLaughlin Fund Leadership Roundtable, and assist in preparing grant reports and manage production of cohort handbook.

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detailed oriented multi-tasker with direct experience managing leadership initiatives or programs. S/he should hold a bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred in public policy, leadership management, non-profit management or related field.
