    POSITION AVAILABLE:

    Program Coordinator

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

CBNS is looking for a program coordinator to
administer a lung cancer screening program. This
project is an important component of a large
nationwide medical surveillance program funded by
the US Department of Energy. Lung cancer screening
participants are nuclear weapons production workers,
formerly or currently employed by the US Department
of Energy. The purpose of the lung cancer
screening program is to use low-dose computerized
tomography (CT) to detect lung cancer at an early
stage, when treatment is much more likely to be
  successful.

The individual will be assisting the administrative
director with all aspects of the lung cancer
  screening program including the:

  • Program participant selection, invitation,
  scheduling and outreach

  • Implementation of screening guidelines and
  procedures, including development of project
  guidebooks and checklists

  • Supervision of quality control activities
  and quality assurance systems

  • Preparation and tracking of program
material submissions to two institutional review
boards (annually and when materials are modified)

  • Various participant follow-up and
  occupational health/lung cancer-related research
  projects

  • Presentation of program updates and data
  at conferences and meetings

  • Supervision of support staff

  The program coordinator will also:

  • Act as liaison between Queens
College and project staff at the local screening
  sites including the CT technologists

  • Act as liaison between Queens
College and the International Early Lung Cancer
Action Program (I-ELCAP) (the data coordination
center for an international lung cancer screening
program, of which Queens College is one of the
  largest contributors)

This would be an exciting project for someone with
an interest in occupational safety and health and/or
medical screening for the early detection of
  disease.
