We are in need of volunteers currently searching for 100-200 volunteers to work for a minimum of 4 hours. I would be very thankful. Our first volunteer orientation will be in July. Volunteers needed by the end of July but volunteers will be accepted until the beginning of August.

 Volunteers Needed!

Dear Potential Volunteer:

Right now, the American Diabetes Association is preparing for its largest Latino event of the year - Feria de Salud, scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 18, 2012. Every year in New York City the ADA holds this free annual health event for Latinos at St. Mary's Park; the average attendance is 4,000 people.  Through fun and informative workshops and activities, community members learn more about diabetes, the importance of making healthy food choices and being physically active on a regular basis.

You will be assigned a 4 hour shift between the hours of 9am and 7pm on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at St. Mary's Park (St. Ann's Avenue and East 146th St, Bronx, NY).   Following is a list of volunteer opportunities:


*  Greeters/Registration Officers:

*        Greeters/Floaters: Meet and greet attendees at various points in the park, direct public to where they need to go (main stage activities, workshops, etc.)

*        Registration: Sign-in people, distribute goody bags, ensure completion of registration materials

*  Area Assistants:

*        Kid Zone: Assist with activities, support vendor needs/requests, maintain order

*        Main Stage:  Assist stage manager with program run (speakers, demonstrations, etc.); encourage audience participation in activities and presentations

*        Health & Flavor Presentation: Assist chef with preparation and distribution of food samples to audience.

*        Maintenance: Assist with maintaining an orderly and clean park environment

*        Senior Zone: Assist with activities, distribution of food, support vendor needs/requests

*        Health Screening Area: Support vendor needs/requests, 'drive' attendees to area

*        VIP Tent: Assist with photo opportunities, maintain supplies (beverages, etc), provide assistance to staff

*        Volunteer Area: Assist with volunteer registration, distribution of t-shirts, food and beverage

*          Workshops: Assist with sign- in sheets, handouts, goody bags distribution and support speaker
