ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, PUBLIC HEALTH
TENURE-TRACK POSITION

The MPH Program at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, which specializes in health promotion (health education, advocacy and communication) invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor rank to begin Fall 2012 to teach three courses a semester.

The MPH program, which began in September 2009, is part of the School of Health Professions (SHP). Other programs in the SHP include Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Sports Science, Respiratory Care, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, and Medical Diagnostic Imaging.  The program, to date, has been an evening program.  CEPH accreditation is being pursued.

Duties of this tenure-track position include student-centered instruction – blended /hybrid course teaching experience a plus - active engagement in scholarly research, mentoring graduate students, and service to the community, college, and profession.  Candidates must have a track record of effective college level teaching or substantive training experience, an interest in and/or experience working in a diverse urban community and with international students, and a commitment to student-centered teaching and student mentoring. 

Qualifications:

·       DrPH or PhD or EdD in a field related to public health or health promotion

·       CHES/MCHES or CHES/MCHES eligible

·       A distinguished record of college teaching and community and professional service

·       A promising plan for scholarly research, funding, and publication

·       Demonstrated academic leadership and collaboration skills

·       Experience or commitment to working to eliminate health disparities

 

Salary commensurate with experience.
