The New York City Center on Food Policy at Hunter College seeks a project manager

The NYC Food Policy Center, newly created with the support of the New York City Council, will provide elected officials, community organizations and nonprofit groups with guidance and support to ensure that food policies in New York City support the well-being of all city residents.

The Project Manager, under the supervision of the faculty investigators, will help the Center carry out its mission, fulfill its responsibilities to clients and funders, and provide expanded opportunities for Hunter College students, faculty and staff to contribute to more effective and equitable food policies in New York City. The faculty sponsors of the Center are Distinguished Professor of Public Health Nicholas Freudenberg and Professor Emerita of Sociology Jan Poppendieck.

The Project Manager will:
1. Direct and coordinate activities of other staff, students and interns placed at Center;
2. Serve as day-to-day liaison with Center community and government partners;
3. Assist in preparation of Center scientific and policy reports;
4. With faculty sponsors, prepare grant proposals and funding applications;
5. Provide administrative and financial coordination of center activities;
6. Assist Hunter students and faculty to contribute to Center activities;

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications; a full package of benefits is provided.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of food policy in New York City; an ability to work effectively with policy makers,   researchers, community residents and other constituencies; and knowledge of methods used in policy assessment and analysis and experience applying these to real-world problems. S/he will also demonstrate strong writing abilities, a capacity to write for diverse audiences, and an ability to meet deadlines and work within budget constraints. We especially welcome applicants who have life, activist, and/or professional experiences in the communities that will most benefit from more equitable food policies.   Candidates must have:

1. Graduate degree in public health, nutrition, public policy or    related field
2. At least three years experience in food policy related positions
3. Possession of the above qualifications required for position
