Nutrition Educator
About the Job
The Nutrition Educator will work as a member of the Client Services Department team to coordinate the agency's nutrition program for people living with HIV. Activities include provision of individual and group nutrition education services, development of nutrition education plans, maintenance of client and program records,

Major Activities:
• Observe and abide by the HIV Confidentiality Law.
• Conduct program screening for clients in need of nutrition services. Develop nutrition education plans for program participants. Ensure nutrition program services are appropriate for client needs.
• Develop and facilitate individual and group nutrition education programs.
• Coordinate community nutrition resources for program participants and provide referrals as needed.
• Ensure clients adhere to nutrition program guidelines including attendance at nutrition education sessions and food voucher and food pantry bag protocols.
• Case conference with other agencies and AIDS Council staff regarding mutual clients on a regular basis.
• Conduct outreach with the target population and network with community service providers to engage clients in services.
• Provide information, education and support to clients regarding HIV disease and available HIV-related resources and services.
• Maintain client records as outlined in nutrition program policies and procedures.
• Ensure documentation is completed by required due dates.

Qualifications:
• BA or BS in Nutrition or related field such as Health Education or Family and Consumer Sciences. Master's Degree in Nutrition preferred.
• Two years' experience in developing and/or delivering nutrition or health education or two years' experience working in the field of HIV/AIDS or in chronic illness setting.
• Travel: Moderate. Must have valid driver's license independent means of transportation to travel to designated sites, per program needs.
• Familiarity with and ability to access community resources and services.
• Strong communication and group facilitation skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries within agency and grant guidelines, as well as with clients and external service providers.
• Ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds within a climate of mutual respect, inclusion, enrichment, and growth.

The Healthy Living Initiative (HLI) is an effort to combat the growing public health problem of childhood obesity. The mission of the Healthy Living Initiative is to encourage HCZ students and their families to incorporate healthy food choices and physical activity into their daily lives. We are currently seeking a dynamic, energetic Sports and Fitness Manager to join our team as part of a comprehensive health, wellness, and nutrition program focusing on middle and high school aged students, and their families. This position reports to the Initiative Lead as part of the central team for the Healthy Living Initiative.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee the development, implementation, and assessment/evaluation of the healthy eating, active living sports curriculum across all HLI sites
• Oversee and manage ongoing initiative trainings related to sports programming and training
• Disseminate key physical well being promotion information to Recreation Coordinators to be executed at respective HLI sites as it pertains to healthy eating active living practices for staff, students and their families
• Meet routinely (e.g., once a month) with Recreation Coordinators from HLI sites to provide on-going techincal support/assistance to ensure effective delivery of sports and recreation curriculum
• Co-lead engagements with parents and staff in support of program
• Provide agency wide physical activity programming for HCZ students, parents and staff as needed both competitive and non-competitive
• Coordinate and work closely with staff at various sites to ensure scheduling and implementation of activities
• Conduct assessments and provide progress reports of all HLI sites exercise performance
• Provide on-going education, training materials, and resources to staff and populations with various levels of experience and education
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
• Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Recreation or appropriate health related field required; ideal candidate will have some supervisory experience
• Must have experience working with adolescent population in either a community-based organization, health center, or school-based setting
• Must possess extensive knowledge about sports equipment, physical fitness and safety
• Ability to cultivate and develop key relationships within organization and childhood obesity prevention communities
• Demonstrated ability to absorb and utilize new information efficiently
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Experience with group counseling and training workshop facilitation
• Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of populations served
• Must be able to work flexible hours and perform extensive field work

Seeking Dynamic Food Justice Educator (Part-time)
The Children's Aid Society is seeking dynamic educators to lead a 24-week, after-school Food Justice program for middle school students in East Harlem and the South Bronx. Our Food Justice program aims to empower young people to explore what food means to them and to their community from various perspectives, including how it intersects with their neighborhood's cultural, racial, economic, ecological, historical and health landscapes. The program will run concurrently at 3 different sites and engage 15 middle school students each. Educators may teach at only one site for a commitment of 5 hours per week, or at multiple sites for up to 20 total hours per week. The program will include class discussions, activities, and cooking; field trips to local farms, gardens and markets; a community food assessment; photography, videography and social media; and a final event where students share their work with one another. Our goals are to positively impact students' food choice, voice and action, which includes increasing their awareness of healthy eating and food justice, and empowering them to plan and implement effective Community Food Justice projects. The principal responsibilities of the Food Justice Educator will be to:

• Implement and help shape a Food Justice curriculum with a group of 15 middle school students for 24 weeks.
• Coordinate field trips.
• Incorporate photovoice and video projects into curriculum.
