Project: CUNY School of Public Health at Hunter College and the Children Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) Research and Evaluation of EAT SLEEP PLAY exhibit.

About CMOM’s Eat Sleep Play: Each year, The Children Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) serves more than 350,000 people, including 65,000 children who visit the Museum as part of a school group or through one of the Museum’s community partners. EatSleepPlay: A CMOM Health Initiative is a national, comprehensive, arts & literacy health-based project that uses creative and fun ways to engage children and their parents. The exhibit supports families in making simple changes in the area of nutrition, sleep and active play to build a healthy mindset and positive, lifelong habits. EatSleepPlay: A CMOM Health Initiative includes a new permanent health exhibit at CMOM, and exhibit replication plans for national distribution with small museums and community centers. Job Description: Students will assist CUNY SPH at Hunter faculty (Drs. Platkin, Yeh, Leung and Zarcadoolas and Public Health Consultant Sue Nestler) and CMOM with research and evaluation at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan’s Eat Sleep Play exhibit. Responsibilities include: IRB applications, survey design and implementation, data collection, processing and management, literature review, and other research-related tasks.

Requirements: Good research, analytical and writing skills, event planning experience, ability to work with minimal supervision, and self-starting. Computer skills are essential. Strong skills in organizing, maintaining and securing research data and other project information. Attention to detail, planning, and due dates. Excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral and written).

Fieldwork Location: CUNY School of Public Health at Hunter College (119th Street) and the Children's Museum of Manhattan (83rd Street and Broadway)

Hours per week: 8 to 15 (depending on project)
