Continuing media coverage of Food Stamps, Follow the Money

While I am not comfortable tooting my own horn, it’s also not very often that my work is featured so prominently in the media. I was thrilled to capture a cover story in last week’s San Francisco Chronicle (Use of government aid for junk food questioned). And this week, Time magazine’s Moneyland (Food Stamps: More Benefit to Big Food than the Poor?) also covered my report. See also this excellent Washington Times story from June 24 (Top Secret: $80B a year for food stamps but feds won’t reveal what’s purchased) and The Daily (Hungry for Profit: More Americans going on food stamps means a windfall for JPMorgan.)

For those who’d rather listen than read, you can catch me talking about the report on KPON’s Food Sleuth radio show with Melinda Hemmelgarn and KTRH Houston News radio with Matt Patrick (a good example of conservative interest in the issue.)

Here is a complete run-down on the media coverage so far. And you can download the report here

With the House gunning for huge cuts in food stamps as Congress continues to debate the farm bill, this issue is likely to remain in the news. In fact, I am attending this Capitol Hill Briefing in Washington, D.C. hosted by SNAP to Health on Wednesday, July 18, which promises to bring more attention to the need to improve and strengthen this vital food assistance program. Please help spread the word.

Thanks for your continued interest and support of my work. You can also find me on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
