This was a summer of some seriously hard work. We are excited to announce that we are nearly finished with the first wave of our renovations.
Our revamped space will provide a more comfortable and enjoyable environment for our weekend screenings and other doc events, and the changes so far are really amazing! Please mark your calendars for the first events of the season: Peter Hutton in attendance
with Jem Cohen to present
At Sea for our Opening Night program September 16, a
John Maringouin benefit screening of Running Stumbled presented by Kimberly Reed on 9/22, and on 9/23, and on 9/23, a literary evening exploring the relationship between fiction and non-fiction writing organized by Lisa Lucas to celebrate
the Brooklyn Book Festival (featuring poet/novelist Leigh Stein, novelist/ essay writer Alexander Chee, and more). We'll also be having
an opening party October 20 to officially celebrate everything new!
Before we re-open our doors, we wanted to put out the call for help in a few key areas:
WEB DEVELOPMENT: We are 80% finished with an amazing new custom
wordpress site, but need someone to code the finishing touches. If you or someone you know has experience with advanced CSS, PHP, and jQuery -- we'd love to talk with you as we are excited to move this project forward!
EVENT MANAGERS: We are looking to round out our terrific team
of weekend event managers. Shifts are generally Saturday and Sunday evening (5-11pm), with some additional scheduling possible. Duties involved include setting up for presenting artists and guests, running the tech and projection, and managing our volunteers
Training will be provided, but some service experience and comfort with technical details are essential. This is a paid position.
STORY TEAM INTERNS: We are looking for interns to help us tell
the story of our weekend events through video, audio, photography and text. Help capture and share the remarkable conversations and exchanges that happen at UnionDocs. This is an great opportunity for the aspiring documentary filmmaker or journalist. You will
be asked to commit to at least two events per month and come in to the office one/two days each week to edit and post.
EVENT VOLUNTEERS: We also are staffing up for general volunteers
at our events. This is a critical on the-ground position helping to run our weekend shows. Free access to a year of regular events for those who can commit to 2+ events a month.
Please email
[log in to unmask] with some information about yourself and a resume if you want to get involved.
