Summer Updates
grey_box_bottom.gif

With summer winding down, we're busy recruiting women to participate in our Bronx Birth Study and hiring Research Assistants to work on the project. (Please see below for more information).

Karina Santamaria, a Lehman College MPH student in Dr. Marilyn Aguirre-Molina's Health Equity and Social Justice class, presented her research at the International AIDS Conference in Washington, D.C. (Please see below for a link to her presentation).

Dr. Aguirre-Molina was interviewed by NBC's news website, The Grio, for an article stating that African-Americans with graduate degrees live longer lives. She believes that “African-Americans have been here for many years, decades and centuries and their situation relative to the length of time they’ve been here should have improved much more greatly than it has. So again, until we begin to address the issues of race, racism and poverty, it’s not going to move as far ahead as we would like. But there is hope.” To read the entire article, click (or copy and paste) this link: http://wp.lehman.edu/lehman-today/2012/09/dr-marilyn-aguirre-molina-interviewed-by-nbcs-the-grio-website/

We welcome our fall interns: Christine Vega from the Nutrition program, Sylvia Grandison and Thelma Lambert from the Social Work program! We look forward to their contributions to CIHE.

We hope everyone is excited for fall!
