"Warm-up" for Food Day with FSNYC's October open networking event. Locally crafted food and drink provided by 61 Local will be available
for purchase all evening. From 6:00-6:30 we will be "sneak previewing" Anna Lappé's new
Food MythBusters animated video that debunks the myth that we need industrial agriculture to feed the world. After the sneak preview, stay and join FSNYC members for an evening of networking and conversation.
A pioneering new initiative of the Real Food Media Project, Food MythBusters provides a set of tools-animated videos, live action short
documentaries, online resources, and more-to help spread the real story about what we eat. Led by bestselling author Anna Lappé, Food MythBusters is a collaboration among a wide range of organizations working to directly challenge Big Ag's marketing might
with grassroots truth-telling.
Food MythBusters harnesses social media and the power of word-of-mouth to reach millions and advocate for a more fair, healthy, and sustainable
food system.
61 Local is a convivial public house, celebrating locally crafted food, drink and the people who make it. 61 Local regularly hosts
programming and events spotlighting the spirited Brooklyn community. Check out their public calendar for upcoming classes and local happenings

Food Day is a national movement celebrated in October to acknowledge a values shift to "healthy, affordable, and sustainable food."
In its first year in 2011, over 2,300 events joined in the celebration in the US! This year, Food Day includes a plethora of events happening throughout NYC and our region this month!

anti-hunger and other nonprofit groups, students, and public agency staff gathered together at FSNYC's September Open Networking Meeting. The hot topic? How to enhance collaborative efforts around food policy creation/implementation in NYC with special guest,
author and policy expert Mark Winne.
