I am looking for a Registered Dietitian who would be interested in taking over my job as Nutrition Consultant for HANAC in Astoria, Queens. HANAC is one of the oldest social services organizations in the NYC and this job would be to provide nutrition lectures at one of their senior centers. I have been doing lectures for seniors at the JVL-Dimotsis-Vallone Senior Center for almost 2 years and I've loved it - it has been a great experience and the people there are so sweet, but I am working full-time now and have to give up this job. The commitment is not a huge one, only one hour per lecture and they require 6 for the year. My topics have includes heart healthy eating, diabetes, reading food labels and smart grocery shopping. They pay $50 an hour and it is rare to be paid for community lectures like these as I'm sure most of you know! The senior center is located 1 block away from N/Q subway in Astoria.

The format of the lecture can be anything you want it to be, in general it is simple and often times seniors have questions which make the discussions really fun and interesting! If anyone is interested please email me at [log in to unmask]<mailto:en356%40nyu.edu>. This is great resume-building experience especially for someone who just passed the RD exam. Thanks so much!

Kind regards,

Effie Nerantzis, MPH, RD, CDN
