The Department of Nutrition Science at The Sage Colleges invites applications for the position of Dietetic Internship Coordinator. This is a twelve-month, full-timeadministrative position effective May 1, 2013. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Dietetic Internship Director with the administration and day-to-day implementation of the Dietetic Internship, including both onsite and distance tracks.

The DI Coordinator will assist the DI Director with all activities related to both tracks of the DI including, but not limited to:
· Coordinating and scheduling of practice sites
· Student recruitment activities
· Program orientations and field trips
· Training interns at an acute care facility during introduction to Medical Nutrition Therapy rotation
· Managing the online evaluation system
· Maintaining records and affiliation agreements between Sage and all practice sites
· Maintaining student files
· Carrying out all accreditation activities, including evaluating the program and completing reports
· Evaluating intern assignments and portfolios
· Updating and maintain internship courses on Moodle, Sage's course management system

The successful candidate will have Registered Dietitian (RD) credentials and New York State Certified Dietitian Nutritionist status is preferred. A minimum of one year clinical experience is strongly desired.
The Sage Colleges, located in the Capital Region of New York State, include Russell Sage College for Women, Sage College of Albany, and Sage Graduate Schools. Join a small team in the North American and global beverage business of PepsiCo that provides accurate and balanced assessments about the role of sugars and low calorie sweeteners in metabolism and health. Contribute to the development of research and communication strategies about new and existing sugar sweetened and low calorie sweetened beverages. Work with marketing and communication teams to promote accurate science communications internally and externally. Mentor, coach and share expertise with nutrition, Corporate R&D and regulatory teams on the science of sweeteners.

Provide support to the implementation of portfolio transformation strategies to achieve human sustainability goals and metrics

Work with external organizations to promote Corporate R&D goals.


Qualifications:


PhD in physiology, nutrition or biomedical sciences.

5-7 years of experience in the food or beverage business, preferably within an R&D function.

Deep knowledge of physiology, nutrient metabolism and relationship of nutrient intake to development of disease.

Knowledge of sweetener science

Creativity, Innovation and excellent communication skills

Proven collaborative, leadership and influencing style

Ability to relate to technical and non-technical partners understand nutritional complexities across R&D, business partners and multiple levels of corporate functions.

Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills demonstrated by the ability to positively influence within and outside the organization

Ability to interpret complex data, and translate into terms that can be easily communicated

Basic and/or clinical research training is essential

Proficient in providing thought leadership on both strategic and tactical aspects of projects

Must be willing and able to travel 20% of the time

You can donate your time to help people like Lisa Rivera, who was a participant in City Harvest's Nutrition Education program and is now a volunteer. Check out her story!
Volunteer Opportunities:
· Prepare a healthy recipe at a live Cooking Demonstration!

· Take community members through the aisles of their community supermarket and explain affordable, healthy shopping by leading a Shopping Matters Workshop!

· Participate in Nutrition Education Courses where volunteers teach the health benefits and value of produce, along with how to purchase, store and prepare it!
City Harvest programs are conducted in our Healthy Neighborhoods (South Bronx; Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, Washington Heights-Inwood, North West Queens, and the North Shore of Staten Island) and are held mostly Monday-Friday between the hours of 11AM-8PM.

Job Announcement
Bilingual Nutrition Education Program Manager

The Yorkville Common Pantry, the largest community based emergency feeding organization in New York City, is seeking a charismatic and outgoing Nutrition Education Program Manager/Nutritionist who will manage, implement and further develop the Yorkville Common Pantry's Nutrition Initiative for Children and Families (NICF) program. NICF offers hands-on, interactive nutrition education workshops offered to children and adults to improve the overall quality of life of the members and guests of the Yorkville Common Pantry. A strong emphasis is placed on the nutritional value of fresh fruits and vegetables and their impact on healthy living and longevity. Additionally, the Nutrition Education Program Manager/Nutritionist will oversee the program's expansion of the children's programming to the Bronx and Upper Manhattan; work with a professional evaluator to determine best research methodologies for gauging impact; select a new curriculum that introduces active living, as well as healthy eating for both children's education and adult education; and develop a refresher course for children to gauge long-term impact of the program. The Nutrition Education Program Manager/Nutritionist is responsible for supervising a full-time instructor and two part-time program aides; and ensuring accurate client data is entered into the client database by all nutrition education staff. This job is a full-time, exempt position and has a Tuesday through Saturday schedule.

Job Responsibilities

1) Manage and coordinate the daily programming of the Nutrition Education program, including supervising and evaluating the nutrition education staff.

2) Conduct outreach and establish partnerships with organizations to provide nutrition education programming to children, including expansion to the south Bronx and Upper Manhattan.


3) Develop new lesson plans, activities and recipes to diversify existing curriculum.


4) Work on developing the nutrition education program, including selecting a new curriculum that introduces active living, as well as healthy eating for both children's education and adult education; transitioning adult education programming from workshops to a course that can gauge impact of the curriculum; and creating a refresher course for children to gauge long-term changes in attitudes, intentions and behavior of previous nutrition education participants.

5) Ensure that nutrition education program provides maximum number of classes and workshops to pantry members and children and their parent's onsite and to children offsite using the current curriculum.

6) Work with professional evaluator to determine best research methodologies for gauging impact of the children's nutrition education courses.


7) Ensure proper data collection techniques are used in acquiring evaluation data and ensure the integrity and validity of the data is secure.


8) Maintain all data collection of participants of workshops and classes, including monitoring academic progress of individual students and classes.

9) Ensure that classroom/workshop participation maintains a minimum of 35 participants
