Announces Faculty Position in

Nutrition and Dietetics

Tenure Track Instructor or Assistant Professor

Responsibilities

Teach nutrition, dietetics, sports nutrition, foods and related courses based on area of expertise; work closely with other faculty to develop new curriculum and the nutrition program; assist in the accreditation process; and participate in departmental, professional unit, and university activities.  The successful candidate is expected to teach effectively, advise a diverse student population, undertake a regular research program involving students as appropriate; and make professional and university service contributions. The successful candidate should have the ability to transition into the Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics position within a few years.

 

Qualifications

Minimum requirements: Doctorate degree or ABD in Nutrition or a closely related field from a regionally accredited (or foreign equivalent) institution; prior teaching experience; Registered Dietitian status; and professional work experience in Nutrition. Completion of a successful interview including a teaching demonstration is required. ABD candidates must complete their doctorate within 18 months from the date of hire to continue in the position. Doctorate required for Assistant Professor Rank.

 

Additional qualifications: Ability to adapt to changing technologies that support teaching and learning; ability to teach courses through an online format when needed; effective communication skills (verbal and written); ability to teach, evaluate, and advise students; ability to assess program and student learning outcomes; experience with recruitment of students; ability to conduct scholarly activities; and demonstration, through past accomplishments and behaviors, of the ability to support Mansfield University’s principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service (http://www1.mansfield.edu/mansfield-creed) and the University’s strong student-centered vision and mission.   

 

Preferred:  Experience in college-level teaching, supervising student experiences, and experience using technology in teaching on campus or online.  A condition of employment is an official transcript for all earned degrees and an acceptable background check report.

 

Essential Functions

Effective teaching and advising, continued scholarly growth, and service to the department, university, and community.  Effective communication and use of electronic teaching technology.  Work cooperatively with staff, faculty and administration.  Ability to use software application programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and effective use of phone, keyboard and other office equipment.  May be required to lift, stand, walk, reach with arms, etc.

 

Salary
